My research interests information retrieval, data mining, and machine learning with a focus on time-aware information retrieval and real-time social media search. As part of my dissertation work, I built techniques that leverage temporal signals from multiple sources on the Web to improve the ranking of search results.
November 2018: I successfully defended my PhD thesis “Temporal Information Models for Real-time Microblog Search“. My advisors were João Magalhães in the NOVA Laboratory for Computer Science and Informatics at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, and Jamie Callan in the Language Technologies Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.
